Pimcore Enterprise Project with THE BRITISH SHOP

For over 30 years, THE BRITISH SHOP has been the go-to destination for enthusiasts of the British lifestyle and authentic products from the British Isles. Alongside a bi-monthly mail order catalog and a physical store in Meckenheim, the company boasts an extensive online presence with rich content offerings and an online shop at the-british-shop.de.
In 2023, THE BRITISH SHOP tasked us with the seamless implementation of a Pimcore system within their existing infrastructure. The goal was to ensure that each system in the landscape performs only its designated functions. To achieve this, master data from the ERP system would be imported to Pimcore, enriched with additional data, and then exported to the web shop. Additionally, manual image management would be transitioned to a Pimcore Digital Asset Management (DAM) system.

The goal of our joint project with THE BRITISH SHOP was to implement a future-proof Product Information Management (PIM) system based on Pimcore Enterprise. This new system aims to efficiently alleviate the load on the existing warehouse management and ERP system, while meeting the growing demands for product information and advertising capabilities in multichannel distribution over the long term.

Workshops and Consulting

Digital Asset Management (DAM)

• Integrated enterprise metadata objects from Pimcore Enterprise.
• Allow assignment of seasons, catalogs, models, and photographers.
• Import all currently used product images.

Catalog Archive Creation

• Created a catalog archive from historical data.
• Enabling easy tracking of which items appeared in which catalogs.
• Provide easy access options for future catalog designs.

PDF Product Information Sheets

• Enabled the creation of PDF product information sheets for internal use with just a few clicks.

Product Data Export

• Provided comprehensive product data for integration with the existing shop system.

By successfully implementing these measures, we have developed a robust and future-proof PIM system. The system centralizes the maintenance of all product information, eliminates duplicate data processing, and enhances efficiency in warehouse management and ERP operations. Additionally, it significantly improves product advertising and catalog creation capabilities, preventing the redundant use of images and boosting overall competitiveness.
