Adobe Commerce, commercetools, Shopify, Shopware & Spryker featured in 2023 Gartner Magic Quadrant
The good performance of our technology partners in the ‘Magic Quadrant for Digital Commerce’ assures us that the expansion of our partner network in the e-commerce sector was the right decision for us. Five commerce technologies in our portfolio are not only listed in the ‘Magic Quadrant’, but also performed exceptionally well. Gartner regularly presents the best providers in various areas of technology in the ‘Magic Quadrant’. The ‘Magic Quadrant’ is divided into the areas ‘Challengers’, ‘Leaders’, ‘Niche Players’ and ‘Visionaries’. The individual providers and technologies are ranked within the quadrant according to the criteria ‘Ability to Execute’ and ‘Completeness of Vision’. According to Gartner, the market for digital commerce continues to be characterized by the transformation of technologies that help companies to offer their customers an outstanding digital experience. The experts observe that several vendors covered in the current study are evolving into modular, API-based solutions.
Adobe Commerce/ Magento
In the ‘Magic Quadrant for Digital Commerce’ 2023, Adobe Commerce/ Magento is once again listed as a ‘Leader’. The analysts observe a significant increase in large companies with an annual online turnover of more than 250 million US dollars using the system. The benefits of Adobe Sensei AI and the strong commerce functionalities, especially for the B2C sector, are particularly emphasized. Another argument in favor of Adobe Commerce are the synergies through the use of other Adobe Experience Cloud products.
commercetools
commercetools is also once again recognized as a ‘Leader’ in digital commerce in 2023. The analysts at Gartner consider commercetools to be a good solution for large companies. The analysts consider the modular API-first architecture of the SaaS platform to be a particular strength. The flexible cloud commerce solution allows for extensive customization and is extremely scalable. commercetools follows the MACH principles (microservices, API-first, cloud-native, headless) and is one of the most influential players in the field of composable commerce.
Shopify Plus
Shopify Plus was a ‘Challenger’ in the digital commerce sector last year and is ranked as a ‘Leader’ in 2023. The Gartner analysts emphasize that Shopify has consolidated its offering, especially in the B2C area, and introduced new B2B functionalities. The speed of innovation is also cited as a strength of Shopify Plus. Shopify has increased its research and development budget by 75% compared to the previous year and is thus continuing to drive the development of the platform forward.
Shopware
Shopware is represented in the ‘Magic Quadrant’ for the fourth time in 2023 and has risen from ‘Niche Player’ to ‘Visionary’ in the current analysis. Gartner identifies Shopware’s target segment to be small to medium-sized B2C retailers and brand manufacturers, but also notes that Shopware is increasingly being used in the B2B sector. Innovative B2B tools (e.g. the Flow Builder), the flexibility of deployment (cloud & on-premises) and the user-friendliness of the administration are cited as strengths of the system.
Shopware is very well established in Europe and has replaced Adobe Commerce as the market leader in the DACH region in the segment of the 1000 largest online stores. Since 2022, Shopware has also significantly increased its involvement in the USA.
Spryker
Spryker is once again featured as a ‘Visionary’ in this year’s Magic Quadrant. The Spryker Commerce OS is aimed at medium-sized and large companies with an annual turnover of more than 100 million US dollars. According to the experts at Gartner, Spryker is characterized in particular by its modern architecture, which supports complex business models in both the B2C and B2B sectors. In the current Magic Quadrant, Spryker is once again one of the fastest growing companies in terms of customer and revenue growth.
