Headless CMS, PIM & DAM Solution with Pimcore Enterprise

Camina & Schmid, a family-owned company specialising in high-quality fireplace systems and tiled stoves, operates a large international sales network through specialised trade partners. One of their most important sales tools is an annually published product catalog, designed using Adobe InDesign.
Previously, product data for the catalog was compiled from multiple decentralized sources, including SAP, Excel, and various data stores. This manual integration process led to inconsistencies, such as different product names across departments and duplicated data records.
As the product range expanded, so did the complexity of the data, which now includes additional elements like test reports, design drawings, and cross-references to related products. The fragmented data storage across systems made catalog production increasingly time-consuming and prone to errors, requiring extensive quality assurance efforts.

Implementation of Pimcore PIM & DAM

The Pimcore Enterprise Edition data management platform was implemented to centralize and standardize the storage of both product data and digital assets, including images and graphics.

Website Relaunch as a Single Page Application

As part of the relaunch, Camina & Schmid’s website was modernized and reimplemented as a Single Page Application (SPA). This headless solution ensures that only a single HTML document is loaded and executed on the client side, meaning users do not need to reload entire pages. Instead, only the necessary content or data is dynamically refreshed.

• The website’s frontend, or presentation layer, was custom-built using the Vue.js framework.
• All data displayed on the website is delivered via an application programming interface (API) from the Pimcore system, utilizing the Enterprise Extension for Headless Documents.
• The website delivers very low loading times, providing a user experience akin to a mobile app.
• The headless approach decouples the front-end from the Pimcore backend, with the two communicating exclusively through the API. This separation enables independent development. It also supports a best-of-breed strategy, giving Camina & Schmid the flexibility to expand or replace the front-end in the future without needing to overhaul the back-end.

This exciting Pimcore project successfully integrated PIM, DAM, and CMS functionality within the Pimcore platform. A standout feature of the project was the implementation of the website as a Single Page Application, an innovative headless solution.
