In 2021, Pöppelmann KAPSTO® embarked on a digital transformation journey, aiming to modernize its sales processes and establish a new primary sales channel through an online shop. As their e-commerce partner, we have been instrumental in developing this online shop using Shopware 6 Enterprise Edition.
Before the project could be realized, a key challenge was the necessary adaptation of internal processes, particularly concerning small orders. Pöppelmann KAPSTO® offers a vast product range with numerous variants, all of which needed to be accurately displayed in the online shop. Additionally, these products had to be available for ordering in small quantities, including as samples.
Shopware 6 Enterprise Edition
In collaboration with Pöppelmann KAPSTO®, we developed a new B2B webshop using the innovative Shopware 6 e-commerce platform. This marked our second successful project together. Shopware 6 was chosen again for its user-friendliness, design, and open development environment.
The Pöppelmann KAPSTO® online shop stands out with its clean design, offering a seamless browsing experience. The homepage provides a clear introduction to the shop’s product categories, while the category pages highlight the diverse range of protection elements available. On the product detail pages, users can easily access essential information, such as USPs, technical data sheets, and other key product details. The extensive range of product variants is neatly organized in a table, allowing for direct ordering of products or samples.
Customer Centricity
The online shop provides Pöppelmann KAPSTO® customers with the ability to create accounts, where they can easily view their order history, manage shipping and billing information, and access a range of services. In collaboration with Pöppelmann KAPSTO®, we placed a strong emphasis on ensuring a clear and intuitive presentation of the customer account. To achieve this, we extended the standard Shopware B2B suite interface, making it more customer-centric.
Efficient Sample and Product Ordering
In the protection business, providing customers with the option to order free, non-binding samples is essential. To ensure this process is seamlessly integrated with the order and delivery of paid products, we established all necessary foundations across both front-end and back-end systems. By implementing advanced e-commerce solutions and automating key business processes, Pöppelmann KAPSTO® can now process orders more efficiently, delivering a smoother purchasing experience for customers. Additionally, digitization has simplified inventory management and order tracking.
Digitizing internal processes
A key objective of the online shop launch was to accelerate internal digitization, strengthening Pöppelmann KAPSTO®’s long-term viability. To achieve this, we developed flexible interfaces that seamlessly connect with both the current and future ERP systems. Additionally, we integrated various pricing elements, including service fees or setup costs, directly into the shop. This was made possible by creating a user-friendly extension that is easy to configure and aligns perfectly with the Shopware standard.
As a technical service provider, we collaborated closely with the Pöppelmann team to develop both the technical concept and the graphic designs for a customized front end. The resulting online shop boasts a modern, user-friendly interface. Our collaboration with Pöppelmann KAPSTO® was highly productive and enjoyable, and we are proud of the outcome.
