Assignment
As a leading company in the field of laboratory equipment with headquarters in Hamburg, Eppendorf is internationally successful with the sale of high-quality laboratory equipment and consumables.
In order to speed up the check-out process for its existing customers and thus reduce the abandonment rate in the shopping cart, an express check-out was to be implemented for the B2B store based on SAP Commerce that is smooth, secure and fast. In addition, the implementation of a list feature was to make it easier to order product bundles. There was also the task of adding country versions of the website or additional languages (e.g. English) for the respective country versions.
Challenge
Eppendorf has a large number of sales channels and processes. The aim was therefore to develop a fast, uncomplicated check-out process that is seamlessly integrated into the internal processes and meets the expectations of the customers as well as the requirements of the company.
Solution
A secure and fast checkout system was developed using modern encryption and authentication mechanisms. The basis for the optimization was an in-depth analysis of the existing checkout process and the identification of weak points so that a "one-click" checkout for existing customers with saved payment and shipping data could then be developed and implemented.
There was also close coordination with the existing CRM and payment gateway to ensure seamless integration.
As part of the project, extensive security tests and usability optimizations were carried out and a user-friendly, mobile-optimized interface was implemented. Registered customers are automatically identified and approved for direct payment processing. By integrating a list feature, products can be saved in individual lists and ordered again as required.
A/B tests helped to further optimize the process and make it more user-friendly.
Conclusion
The new express check-out led to a reduction in abandoned purchases and an increase in the conversion rate. Customers benefit from a significantly shorter check-out time, resulting in higher satisfaction and greater customer loyalty.
