Assignment
FAMO, a leading wholesaler of electrical and plumbing products with 30 locations and more than 700 employees across Northern and Western Germany, embarked on its digital modernization journey by relaunching its central B2B online shop. Shopware 6 was chosen as the e-commerce solution, and the existing ERP system was integrated through Celigo as middleware.
Challenge
The scale of the project was significant, with over two million products to manage and a requirement for real-time ERP integration to provide accurate customer-specific pricing and stock levels. Additional challenges included developing an order portal with live status updates, presenting an extensive range of products effectively, and integrating industry-specific interfaces with both industry and retail software. Moreover, the solution needed to include an intuitive and efficient product search feature.
Solution
By implementing Shopware 6 in conjunction with Celigo as middleware, a scalable and powerful platform was created. The integration with the ERP system enables the display of personalized prices and real-time stock levels. The newly developed order portal provides customers with live status updates on their orders and relevant documents. Comprehensive product presentation includes all necessary features and variants, as well as support for cross-selling and up-selling. Industry-specific interfaces such as IDS, OCI, UGL and OpenMasterdata were seamlessly integrated to ensure smooth communication with industry-standard software. Optimizing ElasticSearch for live availability and pricing queries enhanced the user experience with speed and accuracy.

The successful relaunch of FAMO's B2B shop has resulted in a robust, future-proof platform that will serve as the foundation for further development. Ongoing collaboration with FAMO will drive the continous implementation of additional features to meet evolving business needs.
